TalkinTurn helps assure time‑sharing and fairness in group meetings, round‑table discussions, and other settings — with a visible timer and audible cues that keep everyone on track.

What TalkinTurn Does

TalkinTurn is a minimalist, neutral timer for the parts of a meeting where people speak in turn — introductions, check‑ins, testimonies, anything round‑robin. It removes both the burden and the blame of policing individual turn times.

The design and operation are straightforward and intuitive. The app doesn’t need a list of names – just set the two target times. A brief help page (“?”) explains the basics, and a training script (“!”) lets you demonstrate the audible cues in real time. In twenty seconds, participants hear exactly what to expect, so everyone is instantly ready.

Who It's For

TalkinTurn is for anyone who leads a group where people speak in turn and time can easily slip away. It’s ideal for therapy and recovery groups whose check‑ins often crowd out curriculum, but it works just as well for round‑table discussions, peer‑support circles, debates, workshops, and any setting where fairness, pacing, and shared airtime matter. If you guide conversations and want to keep them moving without policing the clock, TalkinTurn is built for you.

How It Works

Set the per‑person and extension timers – either on your own or with group input. There are increase and decrease buttons for each, just tap to set. If you hold a button down, the time will count slowly; if you hold it down for two seconds, it will count very rapidly. If the group is not familiar with the app, read the training script to them (available by pressing the "!" upper left), and press the buttons as you read to preview the sounds the app will make while running. This short demo familiarizes participants with the audible cues they’ll hear during the meeting.
As each person begins to speak, press the NEXT_PERSON button. The timer will run to zero, making the appropriate sounds at the appropriate times. When the timer reaches zero, the extension starts automatically with its own tone. You can also press EXTEND anytime to add more time.
The app beeps once a minute, with distinct tones at 3, 2, and 1 minutes remaining. In the last nine seconds, it beeps once per second, each tone unique. Participants quickly learn to pace and finish on time – so the facilitator isn’t blamed for enforcing the schedule.

Why Join The Beta

Before TalkinTurn can appear the Play Store, Google requires a brief closed test period. At least twelve volunteers must use the app for two weeks and share feedback with both me (the developer) and Google. If you’d like to help, please email me. Once the group is complete, I’ll activate the Play Store listing so you can download and join the test directly. If you would prefer early access and are willing to sideload an Android .apk file, I can send you a secure link to download the install package immediately – whether or not you join the closed test.
